The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released the results of a comprehensive open literature search supporting its forthcoming glyphosate human health risk assessment for a 30-day public comment period.
As part of EPA’s pesticide registration review process, the Agency is reevaluating glyphosate to ensure it continues to meet the statutory standard for registration as scientific information evolves. The literature search identifies and screens relevant peer-reviewed research, including publications identified since EPA’s previous open literature review in 2017.
The information gathered through this process will help inform EPA’s upcoming human health risk assessment, including potential dietary risks associated with glyphosate residues in food and water. EPA expects to complete the risk assessment in late 2026 and provide a separate opportunity for public comment on the assessment and its conclusions.
For this comment period, EPA is specifically seeking additional peer-reviewed studies that may not have been identified in the literature search. Commenters are encouraged to provide the complete study and underlying data, or clear information about how the materials can be obtained. Submissions should include the full citation, including author(s), publication date, journal title, and article title.
