The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) is accepting registrations for an entry-level, in-person Air Quality training designed for environmental staff from Alaska Native communities.
No previous experience in air quality or environmental science is required.
The course provides an introduction to outdoor and indoor air quality issues affecting Tribal communities and explores practical strategies to protect human health and the environment.
Topics include:
- Criteria pollutants and air toxics
- Outdoor air quality concerns, including road dust and open burning
- Indoor air quality, moisture, mold, and radon
- Household hazardous materials and healthy cleaning
- Home heating safety
- PurpleAir Network and air quality sensors
- Community outreach and education
Participants will also take part in hands-on demonstrations, building walkthroughs, and indoor air quality assessments using monitoring equipment.
ITEP encourages attendance from Tribal environmental, housing, and health department staff.
