The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the selection of 23 Tribal and intertribal consortium projects to receive a total of $28.4 million through the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) Grants for Tribes and Intertribal Consortia program.
Individual awards range from $100,000 to $1.5 million and will support projects that strengthen post-consumer materials management, improve recycling infrastructure, enhance local recycling programs, and modernize waste management systems in Tribal communities.
The SWIFR program is designed to help Tribes build more resilient and sustainable materials management systems while increasing recycling opportunities and reducing waste.
