Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

- August 3–7, 2026 or
- September 21–25, 2026
The HAZWOPER course is available in person at EMI Offices in Midtown Anchorage or online.
About the Training
The CERT program teaches participants how to prepare for disasters and respond safely during emergencies through hands-on instruction in disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, and team organization.
The 40-Hour HAZWOPER course provides nationally recognized training on hazardous waste operations and emergency response, preparing participants for careers involving environmental cleanup, remediation, and emergency response.
Travel Reimbursement Available
Participants traveling from outside the Anchorage area who successfully complete both the CERT and 40-Hour HAZWOPER trainings may be eligible for up to $1,000 in travel and lodging reimbursement to attend the in-person CERT training to the first 12 respondents who indicate travel funding need. Funding is limited, and reimbursement is available for eligible participants.
This training is open to Alaska residents who are 18 years of age or older.
To participate in this no-cost training opportunity, participants must complete both the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course and the 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
