The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released updated guidance for the High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate (HEEHR) Program for Indian Tribes, making up to $218.5 million available to support energy efficiency upgrades in Tribal homes.

All federally recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations are eligible to receive formula awards through the program. The application deadline has been extended to December 11, 2026.

  • Available technical assistance

DOE encourages participation from:

  • Tribal staff
  • Tribal Housing Authorities
  • Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs)
  • Inter-Tribal organizations
  • Tribal housing and energy program staff
  • States supporting Tribal housing programs

DOE is also offering additional support for Tribes interested in participating in the program.
